Gas Prices Surge 8.5 Cents, Surpass $2 in Metro Area

Gas prices in the province have reached a significant milestone, surpassing the $2 mark for the first time since 2022. This surge occurred as the Public Utilities Board (PUB) implemented a price increase of 8.5 cents, effective last night.
Current Fuel Price Adjustments
In response to market conditions, the PUB is now adjusting fuel prices five days a week. This recent adjustment has impacted various types of fuel across the province.
Price Changes for Different Fuels
- Gasoline: Increased by 8.5 cents, exceeding $2 per liter.
- Diesel: Decreased by approximately 7 cents on the island; 3.5 cents lower in Labrador West.
- Furnace Oil: Costs are down by about 6 cents.
- Stove Oil: In Labrador West, the price is reduced by around 1.5 cents.
This adjustment reflects the ongoing fluctuations in fuel prices, significantly affecting consumers’ budgets. As gas prices continue to rise, residents may need to adjust their spending habits accordingly.
