Nick Suzuki Achieves Rare 30-Year Feat with the Canadiens

Nick Suzuki has marked a significant achievement for the Montreal Canadiens, becoming the first player in 30 years to reach 90 points in a single season. This milestone highlights a notable moment in the franchise’s history.
Historic Achievement in Montreal
On Sunday, Suzuki reached this impressive milestone during a game against the Carolina Hurricanes. He started strong by scoring his 25th goal of the 2025-2026 season, helping to equalize the match.
Following his goal, he assisted on Cole Caufield’s 46th goal, giving the Canadiens a lead. Suzuki’s performance didn’t stop there; he also scored an additional goal in the same game, bringing his total points to 90.
30-Year Gap
The last player to record at least 90 points for the Canadiens was Pierre Turgeon during the 1995-1996 season. He achieved 96 points, while teammate Vincent Damphousse finished with 94 points.
As the current season progresses, Suzuki has nine more games to potentially reach the 100-point mark. If he succeeds, he would be the first Canadiens player to achieve this since Mats Naslund in the 1985-1986 season.
Legacy of Scorers
In the long history of the Montreal Canadiens, only four players have reached the 100-point milestone. These players include:
- Guy Lafleur – achieved six times
- Pete Mahovlich – achieved two times
- Steve Shutt
- Mats Naslund
With Suzuki’s current form and potential, he could join this distinguished group, further solidifying his legacy within the franchise.
