Injured Flight Attendant’s Recovery Supported by $188,000 GoFundMe Donations

Solange Tremblay, a flight attendant severely injured in a tragic accident, has received overwhelming support through a GoFundMe campaign that has raised over $188,000. The fundraiser was initiated by her daughter, Sarah Lépine, following the accident at New York’s LaGuardia Airport on March 22.

Incident Overview

The accident occurred when an Air Canada Express AC-T plane, Flight 8646, collided with a fire truck during its landing. Tremblay was seated near the front of the Bombardier CRJ 900 and suffered severe injuries, being thrown 320 feet upon impact.

Victims and Circumstances

Sadly, the collision resulted in the deaths of both pilots, Antoine Forest and Mackenzie Gunther. The plane, operated by Jazz Aviation, had originated in Montreal. The crash is currently under investigation by the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), which is examining why air traffic control permitted the fire truck to cross the runway just before landing.

Tremblay’s medical condition is grave. Her injuries include:

  • Two shattered legs requiring multiple surgeries
  • A broken spine
  • Skin graft needs due to severe tarmac injuries

She has already undergone a blood transfusion and will face more surgeries along with intensive rehabilitation to regain her ability to walk. Sarah Lépine expressed her concerns for her mother’s ongoing struggles in the wake of this accident.
