Noel Fielding Reveals Alison Hammond’s Major Bake Off Rule Break

Noel Fielding, co-host of the Great British Bake Off, recently revealed a humorous incident involving his fellow presenter, Alison Hammond. According to him, she broke a critical rule on the famed show after learning “the hard way.”

Alison Hammond’s Bake Off Rule Break

Since 2023, the duo has presented Bake Off together, with Noel having already hosted six successful series. The iconic Channel 4 baking program has been captivating audiences since it first aired in 2010, showcasing colorful treats and the beloved tent. However, it comes with strict guidelines.

One of the most important rules on the Bake Off set is that no one is allowed to eat the display items. While the vibrant set offers a feast for the eyes, sampling the baked goods is highly discouraged. Fielding pointed out this rule while on set, warning that “they are not to be touched.” Unfortunately, Alison faced the consequences of this regulation first-hand.

The Edible and Inedible Props

Much of the food on display in Bake Off is not edible. Some props are crafted from polystyrene, while others may have been left out for weeks, or even years. Fielding noted that even the seemingly fresh hot cross buns on set are often hard as a rock. “You’d need gnashers like a nutcracker to eat them,” he quipped.

This playful banter about the food’s authenticity highlights the importance of maintaining the set’s visual appeal rather than its culinary viability. A crew member noted the necessity of storing real food away after filming to prevent local squirrels from snacking on it at night.

Upcoming Events in The Great British Bake Off

Noel and Alison return for The Great Celebrity Bake Off, which aims to raise funds for Stand Up to Cancer. The event includes a lineup of famous participants, such as Molly-Mae Hague and JoJo Siwa, kicking off last Sunday. Other celebrities joining them include Vicky Pattison, Scott Mills, and Ralf Little.

Alison Hammond’s presence has added a refreshing energy to the Bake Off tent. Her infectious personality quickly won over judges and viewers alike. Even though new to the show, she has experience in cooking programs, having previously appeared on Celebrity MasterChef and integrated cooking segments into daytime TV.

Despite her nerves about joining such an iconic show, she considers it a massive privilege. Hammond’s involvement with various reality shows, including I’m A Celeb and Strictly Come Dancing, speaks volumes about her versatility and popularity.

The Great Celebrity Bake Off airs tonight, March 29, from 7:40 PM to 9 PM on Channel 4, featuring judges Paul Hollywood and renowned pastry chef Cherish Finden.
