Hamilton Analyzes Friday Practice Performance in Japan: “My Guiding North Star”

Lewis Hamilton shared insights on his performance during Friday’s practice sessions ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix. The seven-time World Champion expressed that he feels as if he has a “North Star” guiding him, despite facing challenges with his confidence in the Ferrari SF-26.

This weekend, Hamilton takes to the Suzuka Circuit following his recent podium finish in China. That achievement marked his first top-three placement with Ferrari in the 2026 season, positioning the team as a strong competitor against Mercedes.
During the two practice sessions, Hamilton and teammate Charles Leclerc struggled to match the pace of McLaren drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. Despite his efforts, Hamilton acknowledged a lingering lack of confidence with his car’s performance.

Hamilton reflected on the difficulties of the Suzuka layout, describing it as a “massively demanding circuit.” He noted that while it is exhilarating to drive, finding the right balance with the car is crucial for success.

Hamilton aims to build on his recent success by delivering a strong performance in Saturday’s qualifying session. Scheduled for 3:00 PM local time, the qualifying event will follow the final practice session at 11:30 AM.
He emphasized the need for comfort and stability in the rear of the car for optimal performance. Hamilton’s determination remains strong as he seeks to translate his insights into results on the track.
