High Winds Force Cancellations and Closures in Merseyside

High winds have recently impacted Merseyside, resulting in numerous cancellations and closures across the region. Weather forecasts indicate that conditions are expected to become colder and wetter this week.
Weather Forecast for Merseyside
According to the Met Office Deputy Chief Forecaster, Steven Keates, the UK is transitioning from mild weather to unstable conditions. Starting midweek, residents can expect a series of weather fronts bringing:
- Periods of rain
- Strong winds
- A significant drop in temperatures
Temperatures in Merseyside are predicted to range between 6°C and 10°C, but the wind will make it feel even colder. Wintry showers may occur, particularly in northern areas, and a widespread frost with icy patches is likely by Wednesday night. A slight warming trend is expected by the end of the week, accompanied by additional rainfall on Friday.
Closures and Cancellations Due to High Winds
Due to safety concerns from the high winds, several local businesses and events have decided to cancel services.
Stanley Park Market
The popular Stanley Park Market, scheduled for March 25, has been cancelled. It is set to resume on April 1, featuring around 100 stalls selling clothing, homeware, and fresh produce.
Speke Hall
Speke Hall announced its closure due to the risky weather conditions. On March 24, they informed their Instagram followers about the closure for March 25. The property has several ancient woodland tree-lined pathways, posing potential hazards during high winds. Their closure policy prioritizes visitor safety, and they aim to reopen on March 26, pending post-storm evaluations.
Cornhill Coffee
Cornhill Coffee located on Liverpool’s Dock Road has also closed its operations. Their social media update indicated that wind speeds reached 49 mph, making it unsafe for the cafe to operate.
As the situation develops, El-Balad will provide further updates on any additional closures or cancellations across Merseyside.
