Cirque du Soleil Honors Jean Leloup’s Creative Madness

Cirque du Soleil is set to honor the creative brilliance of Jean Leloup with a spectacular performance titled “Paradis perdu.” This tribute, inspired by Leloup’s notable musical repertoire, will take place at Trois-Rivières starting July 15, 2026.
Creative Team and Vision
The show will be directed by Marie-Ève Milot, who previously created an acrobatic tribute to Daniel Bélanger. Milot, along with musical director Jean-Phi Goncalves and set designer Geneviève Lizotte, aims to encapsulate the fantastical essence of Jean Leloup’s work.
Milot expressed her deep connection to Leloup’s music, stating, “His artistry has accompanied me through pivotal moments in my life.” This admiration drives her vision for the show.
Performance Details
The production comprises 12 acrobatic acts performed within a unique narrative framework. The opening scene features the piece “Le dôme,” where audiences will witness the enchanting sight of toucans. The show will also include songs like “I Lost My Baby,” “Paradis City,” and “L’oiseau-vitre.”

The Storyline
Paradis perdu unfolds with a grand procession led by “l’enfant fou,” guiding a group of lost individuals searching for paradise. This journey towards a dôme, placed in a mystical forest, includes 80 audience members participating as they march towards the ensemble of performers.
During a 75-minute immersive experience, a blend of artists, acrobats, and audience members will engage within the dôme. This setting symbolizes an imaginary theater filled with light, marking the final hour of the character, king Ponpon.
Acrobatic Highlights
The performance will showcase various acrobatic disciplines, including:
- Aerial silks
- Pole vaulting
- Urban parkour
Milot aims to reflect on the enduring impact of Jean Leloup’s artistry, traversing his extensive discography from “Menteur” (1989) to “L’étrange pays” (2019).
