Jets Secure Lucas Wahlin with One-Year Contract

The Winnipeg Jets have officially signed forward Lucas Wahlin to a one-year contract. This deal, which covers the 2026-27 NHL season, has a salary cap hit of $850,000. Wahlin will initially join the Manitoba Moose, the Jets’ AHL affiliate, for the remainder of the 2025-26 season under an amateur tryout agreement.

Lucas Wahlin’s Impressive Collegiate Career

Wahlin, an undrafted winger, has played a vital role in developing the St. Thomas Division I hockey program over the past four years. Under the leadership of head coach Rico Blasi, he has transformed into a versatile player known for both his defensive reliability and scoring ability.

Key Accomplishments at St. Thomas

  • Leading scorer in the CCHA for the 2025 season with 21 goals.
  • Second in scoring for the previous season, amassing 17 goals and 41 points in 36 games.
  • Achieved three consecutive seasons with over 30 points.
  • Named to the All-CCHA First Team this season and previously recognized as a second-team all-star.

Throughout his career at St. Thomas, Wahlin participated in 137 games, netting 56 goals and providing 75 assists, culminating in a total of 131 points. His leadership was instrumental in guiding the team to two consecutive Mason Cup finals, although they were defeated by Minnesota State in both instances.

Transition to Professional Hockey

Wahlin now moves to the Manitoba Moose, who are currently in contention for a spot in the Calder Cup Playoffs. With a record of 29-24-6, the Moose sit fourth in the AHL’s Central Division, holding an 11-point advantage over the sixth-place team.
