Specifically, only 42% of those surveyed felt a personal obligation to act if Britain faces threats. Furthermore, a concerning 57% view the US as a potential threat, following nations such as Russia, Iran, North Korea, and China.
Need for a National Defense Plan
Amid these rising tensions, the UK government is working on a new national defense plan. Air Chief Marshal Sir Richard Knighton has indicated that this plan is designed to transition the country from peace to war effectively. It seeks to update the outdated Government War Book, disbanded after the Cold War.
