Maya has been hospitalized at BC Children’s Hospital since the tragic mass shooting in February 2023. This incident claimed the lives of seven individuals and left many others injured. The shooter tragically also died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The recently postponed surgery was to be Maya’s fourth procedure. It aimed to implant a prosthetic piece in her skull, where she suffered injuries during the shooting incident.
