Julie Bélanger Mistakenly Believes She’s Having a Stroke

In February, television host Julie Bélanger experienced a frightening episode that led her to believe she was having a stroke. This alarming situation coincided with a significant milestone in her career: the filming of the 400th episode of her show, Ça finit bien la semaine. Due to unforeseen circumstances, she had to step away from the set, with Gino Chouinard stepping in to replace her.

Health Scare and Hospitalization

On the day of the critical filming, a performer canceled at the last minute, which caused Bélanger an intense spike in stress. She later recounted, “This situation overwhelmed me to the point where I began to experience memory loss.” Concerned and disoriented, she opted to go to the hospital.

With panic rising, she feared the worst: “I thought I was having a stroke!” After undergoing several medical tests, the diagnosis revealed it was a case of transient global amnesia, a surprising but temporary condition often triggered by significant stress. Thankfully, the outcome was not as severe as she feared, requiring only a single night in the hospital. However, Bélanger took a week off to recover fully.

Personal Challenges and Creative Projects

Bélanger is not only navigating her health journey but also dealing with personal challenges. In December, she and her partner Ken faced substantial water damage in their home, necessitating significant renovations. Instead of enduring the situation quietly, Bélanger decided to turn this challenge into a creative opportunity. She plans to launch a web mini-series titled Les rénos de Julie on her social media platforms, allowing her audience to witness the progress of the renovations. The project is expected to conclude by next summer.

Upcoming Projects

Despite these hurdles, Bélanger remains active and engaged in her career. She is set to co-host a new cooking competition, 24 en 24, alongside chef Chuck Hughes. The show will premiere on March 30 at 8 PM on TVA, showcasing her continued passion for television and culinary arts.

Julie Bélanger encourages others by reminding them that such health issues can occur to anyone but reassures her fans that she is feeling much better now.
