Penguins Secure Forward Bill Zonnon with Three-Year Entry-Level Deal
The Pittsburgh Penguins have officially secured forward Bill Zonnon with a three-year entry-level contract. This deal was confirmed recently by President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Kyle Dubas. Zonnon’s contract will commence in the 2026-27 season and conclude at the end of the 2028-29 campaign.
Bill Zonnon’s Draft Background
Zonnon was one of the Penguins’ three first-round selections in the 2025 NHL Draft, being picked 22nd overall. His journey in the 2025-26 season included playing for the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada in the QMJHL.
2025-26 Season Performance
During his time with the Armada, Zonnon participated in 35 games, where he demonstrated impressive statistics:
- Goals: 14
- Assists: 32
- Total Points: 46
- Plus/Minus: +24
Remarkably, he recorded multiple points in almost half of his appearances, hitting that mark in 17 out of 35 games. He was held scoreless in just nine games of his season, despite facing injury challenges that caused him to miss 29 games early in the season.
Overall Contributions
Zonnon’s 32 assists placed him fourth on the Armada, while his overall points tally ranked sixth on the team. His average of 1.31 points per game was notable, as it positioned him 11th across the entire QMJHL.
The Armada achieved a remarkable expected goals for percentage of 67.3% when Zonnon was on the ice, indicating his significant contribution to the team’s performance. Blainville-Boisbriand concluded the season with a strong record of 40 wins, 18 losses, and 5 overtime losses, earning them a second-place finish in the QMJHL’s Western Conference.
Playoff Aspirations
As the season progresses, Zonnon and the Armada are set to face off against another Penguins prospect, Gabriel D’Aigle, along with the Victoriaville Tigres in a best-of-seven first-round playoff series starting this Friday in Blainville.
Career Overview
The 19-year-old Montreal native has compiled an impressive four-season record in the QMJHL from 2022 to 2026. His accomplishments include:
