Mick Jones: A Leeds United Legend
Mick Jones is celebrated for his significant contributions to Leeds United during a remarkable career. He was a vital member of the iconic Don Revie team, known for its success in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
Key Achievements
- Scored the winning goal in the 1968 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup final, leading Leeds to its first European title.
- Helped the club secure two league titles: 1968/69 and 1973/74, finishing as top scorer in both seasons.
- Contributed to victories in the Charity Shield (1969), another Inter-Cities Fairs Cup (1971), and the FA Cup (1972), assisting in the pivotal match-winning goal.
Throughout his tenure at Leeds from 1967 to 1975, Jones made 312 appearances and scored 111 goals. Additionally, he earned three caps for the England national team.
Heritage Cap and Recognition
The Heritage Cap is a new recognition initiative introduced by Marching on Forever, Leeds United’s former players association, established in late 2025. This special cap honors former players for their contributions to the club. Mick Jones will make history as the first recipient of this cap during the presentation.
