Tom Izzo Listed for National Coach of the Year Award

Michigan State’s head coach, Tom Izzo, has been recognized for his exceptional coaching by being included on the 2026 Naismith Men’s College Coach of the Year Watch List. This prestigious list includes only 15 coaches, four of whom represent the Big Ten Conference.

Tom Izzo’s Coaching Achievements

Throughout his illustrious career spanning over 31 years, Izzo has garnered several accolades. Notably, he received his fourth Big Ten Coach of the Year award in 2025. His previous honors include:

  • NABC Coach of the Year in 2001 and 2012
  • AP College Coach of the Year in 1998

Izzo’s coaching tenure has been marked by significant successes, leading the Spartans to achieve:

  • Eight Final Four appearances
  • Eleven Big Ten regular-season championships
  • Six Big Ten Tournament titles

Currently, the Michigan State Spartans are ranked No. 11 in the AP Top 25 poll, No. 9 according to KenPom, and also No. 11 in the NET rankings.
