Ola Aina Leads Forest to UEL Quarterfinals with Scouts Watching

Ola Aina played a pivotal role in Nottingham Forest’s recent advancement to the quarterfinals of the UEFA Europa League. The Super Eagles fullback’s performance during the match against FC Midtjylland attracted the attention of scouts from major clubs.
Scouts in Attendance
On Thursday night, scouts from prominent English clubs, including Manchester United, Liverpool, and Ipswich Town, were present at the MCH Arena. Their focus was on identifying potential transfer targets for the upcoming summer transfer window. Additionally, representatives from several European teams, such as Borussia Dortmund, Eintracht Frankfurt, Borussia Mönchengladbach, and AS Monaco, were also in attendance.
Aina’s Impact on the Game
Having joined Nottingham Forest from Torino in the summer of 2023, Aina has become a key player for the team. Although he started the match on the bench, the defender was brought on in the second half, replacing French winger Dilane Bakwa with approximately 14 minutes remaining in regular time.
Almost immediately after his introduction, Aina showcased his attacking potential. He nearly scored a goal after receiving a pass from Morgan Gibbs-White, but his attempt went just over the crossbar. Aina also contributed significantly to the team’s efforts, thinking he had set up a goal for Italian striker Lorenzo Lucca at the start of extra time, only for it to be disallowed due to offside.
Match Outcome and Future Prospects
The match concluded with a 2–2 aggregate score, leading to a penalty shootout where Nottingham Forest secured a 3–0 victory, ensuring their place in the quarterfinals.
This impressive performance is likely to heighten interest from top clubs as the transfer window nears. Nevertheless, Nottingham Forest is well-positioned, as Aina is under contract with the club until the summer of 2028.
