Cowboys Face Jets with Three Key Offensive Linemen Out

In a critical matchup this Sunday, the Dallas Cowboys are set to face the New York Jets without three starting offensive linemen. This situation arises as left tackle Tyler Guyton has been ruled out due to complications from a concussion. Meanwhile, left guard Tyler Smith is listed as questionable following a knee injury that kept him from practicing this week. Cowboys center Cooper Beebe continues to remain sidelined with a broken bone in his foot, while right guard Tyler Booker will miss another game due to a high right ankle sprain.

Impact of Injuries on the Cowboys’ Offense

The absence of these key offensive linemen puts additional pressure on the Cowboys. Coach Brian Schottenheimer acknowledged the challenges that come with missing practices, especially for younger players. He stated, “I want to see them move around on Friday and see how they do.” This highlights the importance of physical readiness before a game.

  • Tyler Guyton: Out due to concussion.
  • Tyler Smith: Questionable (knee injury).
  • Cooper Beebe: Out (broken foot).
  • Tyler Booker: Out (ankle sprain).

If Smith is unable to play, players Hakeem Adeniji and Trevor Keegan may fill in at left guard. Additionally, Nate Thomas will start at left tackle for the first time in his career.

Wide Receiver Challenges

The Cowboys will also take the field without two of their top three wide receivers. Pro Bowler CeeDee Lamb is out due to a high left ankle sprain, and Pro Bowl returner KaVontae Turpin is sidelined with a sprained foot. Ryan Flournoy is expected to step into the No. 3 receiver role in their absence.

Rookie Running Back and Defensive Adjustments

Rookie running back Jaydon Blue may make his season debut, potentially handling kick returns and carrying the ball, especially with Miles Sanders listed as questionable due to knee and ankle concerns. On the defensive side, safety Malik Hooker is out with a toe injury and will be replaced by Juanyeh Thomas. Linebacker Kenneth Murray is another concern, as he has been limited with a knee injury and is doubtful for the game.

  • Malik Hooker: Out (toe injury).
  • Kenneth Murray: Questionable (knee injury).

On a positive note, cornerbacks DaRon Bland and Trevon Diggs are healthy and ready to contribute. Their presence will be vital for the Cowboys as they look to overcome the challenges posed by injuries when they face the Jets.
