Paralympic Legends Hall and Suzuki Triumph Amid Fog at 2026 Winter Games

The Paralympic Winter Games at Milano Cortina 2026 highlighted the remarkable achievements of seasoned athletes Adam Hall from New Zealand and Japan’s Suzuki Takeshi. Each made their Paralympic debuts at Torino 2006 and demonstrated their enduring talent two decades later.
Paralympic Legends Shine in 2026
On March 15, Adam Hall secured silver in the men’s standing race, finishing just 2.83 seconds behind Russia’s Aleksei Bugaev. This marks Hall’s fourth consecutive Paralympic podium in his discipline.
Suzuki, competing in the men’s sitting event, took bronze. His achievement comes 12 years after he claimed the same medal at Sochi 2014.
Age and Experience in Competitive Skiing
While both athletes proved their prowess, they are not the oldest competitors. Suzuki, at age 37, is 11 years older than Norway’s silver medallist Jesper Pedersen. Hall, aged 38, is also older than Bugaev by 10 years and Switzerland’s Robin Cuche by 11 years.
Italian Snow Hosts Victorious Competition
The challenging conditions on Italian snow were no barrier for Hall and Suzuki, who were joined by local talents. Giacomo Bertagnolli and his guide Andrea Ravelli triumphed in the men’s event, securing gold despite foggy weather. This marks their second gold medal and fifth overall at their home Games.
- Gold: Giacomo Bertagnolli and Andrea Ravelli (Italy)
- Silver: Michal Golas and Kacper Walas (Poland), finishing just 0.27 seconds behind
- Bronze: Kalle Ericsson and Sierra Smith (Canada)
Ericsson and Smith made a triumphant return, finishing with their second bronze after two previous fourth-place finishes.
Notably, Johannes Aigner and Nico Haberl from Austria, previously dominant with three golds and a bronze in earlier heats, found themselves off the podium for the first time. They finished fourth in the final competition at the Games.
The Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games continue to inspire with legends like Hall and Suzuki leading the way, showcasing enduring spirit and skill in the face of competition.
