Entry to the PGA Tour’s flagship event, The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass, was briefly delayed for spectators due to a tragic incident nearby. A fatal shooting occurred on Friday night at approximately 10:30 PM at a Walgreens, less than a mile from the tournament venue.

According to the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, the shooting resulted in the deaths of two individuals. Responding deputies found these victims suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite immediate medical attention, both succumbed to their injuries.
Suspect Apprehended After Police Chase
Local law enforcement identified the suspect involved in the shooting, who was already known to police due to previous incidents. The suspect fled on foot and later stole a vehicle before being captured around 8 AM ET following a police pursuit in Nassau County.
