Gas Prices Soar Across Quebec, Especially in Montreal

Gas prices have surged significantly across Quebec, particularly in Montreal, causing concern among motorists. As of late Friday night into Saturday morning, prices reached as high as $1.84 per liter in specific areas of the city.
Current Gas Prices in Quebec
The average price of gasoline in Montreal now stands at $1.73 per liter, according to CAA-Québec. Laval has reported even higher prices, with motorists paying an average of $1.78 per liter.
Price Fluctuations and Predictions
This increase comes shortly after the federal government announced the release of 23.6 million barrels of oil, aimed at stabilizing global oil markets. Amid political and economic tensions, the price per barrel of Brent crude has escalated from $72 to $103 since the onset of the Middle East conflict.
Dan McTeague, the president of Canadians for Affordable Energy, warned earlier this week that gas prices could spike to $1.90 at certain service stations in Montreal and Laval by Sunday. His predictions appear to be materializing following a recent jump of approximately 10 cents per liter in Montreal.
