The Canadian women’s tennis team is set to face a formidable challenge against Kazakhstan in the Billie Jean King Cup qualifiers. This highly anticipated event will be held from April 10 to 11 on an indoor clay court at the Beeline Arena in Astana. The stakes are high, as the winning team advances to the 2026 finals in China, while the losing team will compete in November playoffs.

Headlining the Canadian roster are:

- Gabriela Dabrowski – Ranked 2nd in doubles, from Ottawa.
- Bianca Andreescu – Former U.S. Open champion, from Mississauga, Ontario.
- Marina Stakusic – Ranked 130th in the world, from Mississauga.

The team is led by interim captain Marie-Eve Pelletier, who is excited about the squad’s potential. She stated, “We’ve brought together an outstanding team for these qualifiers. Kazakhstan is one of the top teams in the competition, and we’ll need to bring our best.”
Kazakhstan’s Recent Performance

Marina Stakusic and Kayla Cross round out the roster, with both players holding notable rankings of 130th and 131st, respectively. Cross is also a member of the Louisiana State University women’s tennis team, which is ranked fourth in NCAA Division I.
