Kraken Secures Royal Navy Contract for 20 USV Deliveries

Kraken Technology Group has secured a significant contract from the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) to support the Royal Navy. This £12.3 million agreement will facilitate the delivery of 20 uncrewed surface vessels (USVs) under Project Beehive. The initiative aims to advance the Royal Navy’s transition towards a hybrid fleet that incorporates both crewed and uncrewed platforms.
Details of the Project Beehive Contract
Under Project Beehive, Kraken, based in Fareham, will provide its advanced modular USVs to the Royal Navy’s Surface Flotilla (SURFLOT). This initiative not only focuses on vessel delivery but also includes support in various critical areas:
- Training for personnel
- Tactical and warfare development
- Foundation building for the use of autonomous technologies
Kraken’s Technological Innovations
Kraken’s USVs are designed with a Modular Open Systems Architecture (MOSA) to ensure interoperability. The modular payload approach enhances their versatility and effectiveness in various naval operations.
