Chicago Stars FC Secures Jordyn Huitema in Seattle Reign Trade

Chicago Stars FC has made a significant addition to its roster by acquiring Canadian international forward Jordyn Huitema from Seattle Reign FC. The trade cost the Stars $200,000 in allocation money alongside a $300,000 transfer fee. Huitema has signed a three-year contract, which will keep her with the club until the conclusion of the 2028 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) season.

Chicago Stars FC general manager Richard Feuz shared his excitement about Huitema’s arrival. He mentioned that the coaching staff had been carefully selecting a player to enhance their attacking capabilities, with Huitema being an ideal fit. Feuz emphasized her international experience and NWSL accomplishments as key attributes that will benefit the team under head coach Martin Sjögren’s strategies.

Professional Journey

Huitema began her career in Europe with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), where she played for three seasons, making 45 appearances and contributing significantly to the team’s success. Notably, in her second season, she scored a vital goal in a match that secured PSG’s league title.

Transitioning to the NWSL, Huitema joined Seattle Reign FC in 2022. During her time at Seattle, she played 70 regular-season matches, starting 58 and scoring 10 goals along with 4 assists. Her achievements included winning the NWSL Shield and playing in the NWSL Championship.

International Honors

Huitema’s international career with Canada has been impressive. She started with the U-15 team and was later honored as the 2017 Canadian U-17 Player of the Year and the 2018 Canadian U-20 Player of the Year. She made her senior debut in 2017 at the young age of 15, becoming the youngest player in the national team’s history.
