  • Scottie Scheffler: World No. 1, with two titles at TPC Sawgrass (2023, 2024).

Tiger Woods and His Injury Update

Notably absent from the 2026 Players Championship will be Tiger Woods. The 15-time major champion has been sidelined due to ongoing recovery efforts following significant injuries.

  • In October, Woods underwent lumbar disc replacement surgery for lower back issues.

Currently, there is no confirmed timeline for his return to the sport. While he has been visible at events supporting his TGL team, his priority remains on recovery, with hopes to participate in future tournaments.

Woods’ Participation History

Since 2015, Woods has participated in the Players Championship only twice, in 2018 and 2019. His last competitive outing was the 2024 British Open at Royal Troon, where he unfortunately missed the cut.

Justin Thomas expressed his support for Woods, emphasizing the importance of his presence in the game, stating, “I’m always for him playing. There’s nobody that would be against it.”

As the 2026 Players Championship approaches, golf fans will undoubtedly miss the iconic presence of Tiger Woods on the course.
