Toure, Ranked No. 35, Commits to Arkansas and Coach Cal

Top-35 senior Abdou Toure has officially committed to the Arkansas Razorbacks, adding to Coach John Calipari’s recruiting success. Toure announced his decision on October 3, 2025, after considering other schools like Providence and UConn.

Toure Chooses Arkansas Over Strong Competition

Toure, a 6-foot-6 wing from Notre Dame High School in Connecticut, was highly sought after. He chose Arkansas, citing Coach Calipari’s impactful coaching style as a key reason for his decision. Toure stated, “The way he treats his players and how he cares for all his players, along with his energy, was the difference.”

Official Visits and Recruitment Process

Before making his choice, Toure took official visits to both Arkansas and Providence and explored UConn unofficially. Although Providence was considered the favorite, Toure felt a connection with Calipari. He was impressed by the high-energy practices and the supportive environment Calipari fosters.

Impressive Stats and Skills

Ranked No. 31 in the SC Next 100, Toure is recognized as the top player in Connecticut. He showcases exceptional athleticism and can dominate games with his speed and vertical leap. In his last season, he averaged:

  • 15.4 points per game
  • 5.1 rebounds per game
  • 28 points in a single game against Wildcat Select

Last year, he earned the Gatorade Boys Basketball Player of the Year award in Connecticut, averaging 25.1 points per game during his junior year.

Future Potential

Toure’s commitment marks the second significant addition to Arkansas’s 2026 class, following five-star forward JaShawn Andrews. The Razorbacks are still in pursuit of other top talents, including Jordan Smith, Caleb Holt, Brandon McCoy, and Arafan Diane, who has connections with Toure from their time together at the 2024 FIBA U17 World Cup.

With Toure’s decision, Coach Calipari not only adds a versatile player who contributes on both ends of the floor but also strengthens the Razorbacks’ potential for future success.
