Introducing the CSU’s Step Up Slate

A new slate called “Step Up” is contesting the Concordia Student Union (CSU) elections this month. This group has made several commitments aimed at enhancing student life at Concordia University. Their goals include improving academic, material, and social support for students. This slate intends to expand existing services and foster better communication between the union and its members.

Candidates of the Step Up Slate

Ryan Assaker is vying for the position of general coordinator. He currently serves as the financial coordinator for the CSU and has experience within the Arts and Science Federation of Associations (ASFA). Assaker aims to strengthen communication between students and university administrators.

Lina Elbakaye is running for internal affairs coordinator. As the president of the Political Science Student Association, she plans to establish a dedicated club department for better club management on campus.

Saraluz Barton-Gomez represents the external affairs and mobilization coordinator position. With a background in the Senate, she focuses on increasing transparency in student governance and fostering solidarity among student unions.

Emma Doyle is a candidate for student life coordinator. She aims to enrich campus activities beyond traditional events by offering workshops on practical skills such as resume writing.

Ateş Balsoy seeks the sustainability coordinator role. He advocates for pedestrian-friendly spaces on campus and aims to improve accessibility for international students within the CSU.

Adey Singer is running for finance coordinator. With a strong administrative background, she intends to streamline reimbursements for student clubs and enhance awareness of available funding opportunities.

Kinsey El Tanani targets the position of Loyola coordinator. As a former student-athlete, she hopes to better represent athlete interests and improve funding and resources for Loyola campus.

Isabelle Ranger aspires to be the academic and advocacy coordinator. Her focus is on enhancing academic services and addressing systemic issues within Concordia’s administration.

Upcoming Elections

Voting for the CSU executive positions will take place from March 17 to March 19. The Step Up slate represents a united effort to elevate student governance and ensure that student voices are heard on critical issues. By focusing on these commitments, the candidates hope to enhance the overall student experience at Concordia University.
