Bendtner Warns Sporting: “Bodo’s Cold Weather and Facilities are Challenging”

Nicklas Bendtner, the former Danish striker, has issued a warning to Sporting about the challenging conditions at Bodo’s Aspmyra Stadion. Bendtner, who played for Rosenborg from 2017 to 2019, shared his experiences during a recent episode of the Stolpe Ind podcast.
Bendtner’s Critique of Bodo’s Conditions
Reflecting on his time in Norway, Bendtner described the cold weather at Aspmyra Stadion as “brutal” and noted the dreary atmosphere. He expressed discontent, stating, “It’s boring. It’s grey. It’s dark.” His criticisms extended beyond the climate to the facilities available to players.
Complaints About Facilities
Bendtner emphasized the inadequacy of the locker room, declaring it “ridiculous.” He recounted how high-earning players, making between €250,000 and €700,000 weekly, would find themselves sitting together in uncomfortable surroundings, wishing each other well but clearly dissatisfied.

- Capacity: 8,270 spectators
- Field: Artificial turf
Sporting’s Upcoming Challenge
With Bendtner’s insights, Sporting prepares for an arduous match against Bodo/Glimt in the UEFA Champions League round of 16. Bodo/Glimt, known for their Cinderella story, has reached this stage after a remarkable run, which included four consecutive victories over top teams like Manchester City and Atlético Madrid.
Remarkable Achievements
Last season, Bodo/Glimt made history by becoming the first Norwegian team to reach the semifinals of the Europa League. Despite the challenges posed by the Aspmyra Stadion, the team is determined to continue its impressive journey in European football.
As Bodo/Glimt prepares for this encounter, they are also in the process of constructing a new stadium, aiming to improve their facilities further.
