Islamic Relief Innovates with Real-Time Program Data System

Islamic Relief Worldwide has launched an innovative solution to enhance project management and monitoring efficiency across its operations. In January, the organization introduced its Global Programme Impact & MEAL System (GPMS), now active in 27 countries. This marks a pivotal development for organizational collaboration and operational efficiency.
Enhancing Project Management Capabilities
The GPMS revolutionizes how field staff report project updates and manage data. It allows for seamless tracking of project lifecycles and makes pertinent information instantly accessible to staff globally. This advancement reduces administrative burdens and allows more focus on supporting communities in need.
Key Features of GPMS
- Streamlined project management and tracking
- Real-time risk and issue management
- Data collection for case management strategies
- MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning) activity tracking
- Flexible data configuration to meet diverse country needs
- Disaggregated and aggregated data analysis for informed decision-making
- Multi-language support including English, French, and Arabic
- Integration with financial systems to enhance data visibility
Three-Year Collaborative Development Process
The development of the GPMS was a collaboration among stakeholders at all levels within Islamic Relief, spanning a three-year period. The design process prioritized input from local staff to ensure the system is tailored for practical use in various contexts.
The choice of the ActivityInfo platform was made after a thorough evaluation of approximately 30 options based on a comprehensive requirements matrix. ActivityInfo’s team provided exceptional support, ensuring the system met the organization’s rigorous needs.
Future Aspirations for GPMS
While the launch of GPMS is a significant achievement, Islamic Relief aims to further expand its functionalities. Future updates will enhance how project and MEAL data are managed, ensuring continued improvement in the organization’s quality and accountability.
