Toronto to Experience Significant Rainfall, Up to 40mm Expected
Residents of Toronto are advised to prepare for significant rainfall expected to hit the city and its surrounding areas starting Tuesday night. Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement indicating that between 20 to 40 millimeters of rain is forecasted, intensifying into Wednesday.
Weather Forecast Details
The advisory warns that certain areas, particularly those vulnerable to thunderstorms, may receive even greater amounts of rainfall. A series of low-pressure systems impacting southern Ontario is the cause of this weather event.
- Expected rainfall: 20 to 40 mm
- Impact on roads: Possible flash floods and water pooling
- Region affected: Southern Ontario, including Toronto, Windsor, and Cornwall
Additional Advisories
Central Ontario and the Bruce Peninsula are also under advisories, with a prolonged period of freezing rain anticipated. Petawawa, Ontario, is expected to receive up to 10 millimeters of rain.
Temperature Fluctuations Ahead
The weather is expected to shift dramatically later in the week. On Tuesday, Toronto’s temperature will peak at 13°C, dropping to 5°C by evening. Wednesday will maintain a high of 11°C but will cool to -3°C by nightfall, along with a 60 percent chance of flurries or rain showers.
By Thursday and Friday, temperatures are projected to plummet to just 1°C, with additional flurries likely on these days.
Advice for Residents
March can be unpredictable, often featuring brief warm spells followed by a return to wintry conditions. Meteorologist Bill Coulter advises residents to enjoy the mild weather while it lasts but cautions them not to store away winter gear just yet.
