Bortoleto Shares Impressions Following Audi Takeover

Gabriel Bortoleto has expressed admiration for the extensive preparations that have taken place in the wake of Audi’s takeover. The Brazilian driver believes the team behind this effort deserves significant recognition. The 2025 season marked Bortoleto’s debut with what was previously known as the Kick Sauber outfit. However, 2026 will be a historic year as it represents the first full season under the Audi banner.

Audi’s Transition and New Developments

The Audi takeover plan was first revealed in 2022. Since then, the manufacturer has developed its own power unit from its powertrain division situated in Neuburg, Germany. This new development works in conjunction with the chassis team based in Hinwil, Switzerland, and a newly established Technical Centre in Bicester, UK.

Impressions Ahead of the Season

As the 2026 season-opening Australian Grand Prix approaches, Bortoleto shared his thoughts on the most impressive changes since Audi’s acquisition. He stated, “I’ve been impressed by the amount of work done behind the scenes that may go unnoticed.” He emphasized that the team has built a new car and power unit from scratch.

Bortoleto acknowledges the challenges that come with being part of such a transformative project. He noted, “We’re a new team basically, and they’ve done an impressive job. They recognize that there is still a lot to accomplish.” His confidence in the direction of the team is clear, stating, “I’m impressed that we have been able to go in the right direction and hopefully we keep going.”

Bortoleto’s Personal Growth

Entering his second Formula 1 season, Bortoleto reflects on the changes he has experienced. “Being here in the second year is great,” he said, recalling his nervousness during last year’s debut in Melbourne. “Now it’s just different and more relaxed,” he added. The 21-year-old is eager to contribute to his team’s ambitions and is excited about the ongoing project.

In summary, Gabriel Bortoleto is optimistic about the future under the Audi umbrella and appreciates the dedication of his team. As the new season looms, his excitement and confidence signal a promising year ahead for both him and the Audi team.
