Authorities in York Region are actively investigating a shooting incident that occurred at a synagogue on Friday night. The incident was reported shortly before midnight in the vicinity of Clark Avenue and York Hill Boulevard. Upon arrival, police discovered that the front of Beth Avraham Yoseph of Toronto synagogue had sustained damage from gunfire.
Fortunately, there were no reported injuries linked to this shooting. While no suspects have been immediately identified, law enforcement noted that a dark sedan was seen in the area at the time of the event. In response to the incident, Vaughan Mayor Steven Del Duca expressed his profound disgust and anger via social media.

Del Duca highlighted the impact of this antisemitic act on the Jewish community. He criticized governmental inaction on hate crimes, stating, “Too much inaction and repeated weak responses from too many leaders have permitted this behavior to become normalized.” He called for a more aggressive response than mere words, suggesting that community leaders have a responsibility to act decisively against such incidents.

Related Shooting Incident in North York
In a related issue, Toronto police are also investigating a shooting that took place at a North York synagogue shortly after midnight. Bullet holes were discovered on the front doors of Shaarei Shomayim, located at Glencairn Avenue and Bathurst Street. As in the incident in York Region, no injuries have been reported.
Authorities are currently exploring potential links between this shooting and the one at Beth Avraham Yoseph of Toronto synagogue. This incident marks the second time within a week that a North York synagogue has been targeted. Earlier, Temple Emanu-El, situated at 120 Old Colony Road, was found with several bullet holes in its front windows.
