Verstappen Crashes, Stroll Stalled, Mercedes Lead the Pack

In a dramatic turn of events at the Australian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen, the Dutch four-time world champion driving for Red Bull, crashed during the first qualifying session (Q1). As a result, he will start the race from the pit lane.
Lance Stroll from Canada, also faced difficulties and could not participate in qualifying or the final practice session due to persistent engine issues.
Mercedes Dominates Qualifying
George Russell from Mercedes clocked the fastest time during qualifying, securing pole position for the Sunday race. He will be joined on the front row by his teammate Andrea Kimi Antonelli. Isack Hadjar, driving for Red Bull, will start from third place.
Qualifying Incident Details
Verstappen lost control of his car after beginning his fast lap. He spun out at the end of the pit straight, crashing into a protective barrier after skidding through a gravel trap. Fortunately, he reported to the team, “I’m fine. The rear axle locked up. Fantastic…” before exiting his vehicle.
Following the incident, Verstappen will undergo a routine medical check at the circuit. After leaving his car, he was seen holding his right hand and wrist, raising concerns about potential injuries.
