Lambeth Celebrates International Women’s Day

As part of the celebration for International Women’s Day, Lambeth is hosting a series of events throughout March. These activities emphasize community learning and gender equality.

Lambeth’s International Women’s Day Activities

The events kick off prior to the official date of International Women’s Day on March 8. Cllr Claire Holland OBE, Leader of Lambeth Council, stated the importance of community involvement in these initiatives. She highlighted both the progress made in gender equality and the challenges that remain.

“The programme of events offers a chance for our community to come together to learn and make strides toward equality,” Holland said.

  • International Women’s Pamper Day:
    – Date: Friday, March 6
    – Time: 11 AM to 2:30 PM
    – Location: St. Mark’s Church, Kennington
    – Activities: Wellbeing services including massage and manicures. No registration is necessary.
  • Sylvia Pankhurst: Suffragette & Socialist Talk:
    – Date: Tuesday, March 10
    – Time: 7 PM to 8:30 PM
    – Location: Carnegie Library, Herne Hill
  • International Women’s Day Art Event:
    – Date: Thursday, March 12
    – Time: 6 PM to 8 PM
    – Location: Brixton Library
    – Featuring artists Fiona Freund & Lise Meyrick.
  • Sisterhood Exhibition:
    – Location: Lambeth Archives, Brixton Hill

  • Bystander Intervention Workshop:
    – Date: Thursday, March 19
    – Time: 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM

  • Capacity Building Support:
    – Hosted by the Lambeth Community Hubs Network
