WWE Legend Misses Chance at Crufts Gold

WWE legend Dustin Rhodes, known for his persona Goldust, made an impressive appearance at Crufts, showcasing his beloved Mastiff named Beast. However, the 56-year-old faced disappointment after securing only a third-place finish in the working group open category.

Dustin Rhodes and Beast at Crufts

Weighing in at 114 kg (approximately 250 pounds), Beast has become a notable competitor on the dog show circuit. He is recognized as the top-ranked Mastiff in the United States. Rhodes, the son of wrestling icon Dusty Rhodes and brother to wrestler Cody Rhodes, has embraced a new path in his career over the past two years. While still engaged in wrestling with AEW, Rhodes actively participates in dog shows across America with his canine companion.

Beast’s Impressive Diet

The Mastiff has a robust diet, consuming about $250 worth of food each month. This includes:

  • Eight cups of dry food daily
  • Chicken
  • Rice
  • Steak

Despite his large size, Beast displays a loving demeanor and often acts like a lap dog. Rhodes expressed his deep affection for Beast, stating, “I would never own another breed.”

Emotions and Reflections

After the competition, Rhodes was candid about his disappointment. “I thought our dog was the best,” he revealed. “He is a once-in-a-decade dog.” Although Beast finished third, Rhodes expressed pride in his pet’s performance, emphasizing the joy of being part of Crufts, which he described as the “world’s greatest dog show.”

Future Aspirations

Rhodes confirmed he would return to wrestling shortly after the event, following a six-month recovery from double knee surgery. At Crufts, the excitement of the competition required him to keep a low profile during Beast’s performance, as the dog tends to get overly excited upon seeing him.

Crufts, organized by The Kennel Club, celebrates the health and happiness of dogs, alongside the special bonding between dogs and their owners. The next event will take place from 5-8 March 2025 at the NEC in Birmingham. Fans can catch highlights and action on Channel 4 and More4, while additional details and tickets are available at the Crufts website.
