Le Bris Updates on Injuries, Praises Sunderland Star’s Award-Winning Progress

Regis Le Bris, the head coach for Sunderland, has provided an update on player injuries ahead of their upcoming match against Leeds. His team has faced multiple injuries that have impacted their performance lately.
Injury Updates Ahead of Leeds Match
Jocelin Ta Bi, who joined Sunderland in January from Maccabi Netanya, has encountered setbacks with an ankle injury. He has only made a single appearance in the Premier League this season. Meanwhile, Romaine Mundle suffered a hamstring injury during Sunderland’s loss to Fulham before their recent draw with Bournemouth.
Current Injury List
- Jocelin Ta Bi: Ankle injury, only one game played this season.
- Romaine Mundle: Hamstring injury, expected to have a prolonged recovery.
- Reinildo: Missing for two matches due to a knee injury.
- Brian Brobbey: Sidelined.
- Nordi Mukiele: Sidelined.
Le Bris stated that while some players will take longer to recover, others are expected to return sooner. He noted, “Nothing new to report at the minute, which is good because the Fulham match was probably our worst experience of the season.”
Focus on Recovery
Le Bris emphasized the importance of proper recovery for injured players. He mentioned that Romaine and Jocelin would require significant time off, while the return of others is uncertain, generally estimated between one to three weeks depending on their progress.
Praising Dan Ballard’s Achievements
This weekend, Dan Ballard was awarded the North East Football Writers’ Association Player of the Year. Le Bris praised him for his contributions to the team and the community, noting the significance of the event for celebrating local talent.
Le Bris remarked on Ballard’s recent contract extension, describing it as “wonderful news.” He highlighted Ballard’s growth as a player, particularly in his role as a centre-back, and praised his ability to cope with the physical demands of the position.
He attributed Ballard’s continued improvement to his increased responsibility and leadership on the field. Le Bris concluded that Dan Ballard exemplifies the qualities needed in a successful centre-back.
