Bezzecchi Shatters Buriram Lap Record, Bests Marquez and Bagnaia in Q1

Marco Bezzecchi from Aprilia Racing captured attention by setting a new lap record, pushing for direct placement in Q2 while competitors jockeyed for strong lap times. Marco Bezzecchi dominated the practice session, finishing with an impressive lap time of 1:28.526. This new record surpassed his previous test performances, positioning him as a favorite for the upcoming races. His teammate, Jorge Martin, also had a commendable showing, securing a fifth-place finish.
Marquez and Bagnaia Navigate Q1 Drama
Marc Marquez from Ducati Lenovo Team had a rollercoaster session. Initially struggling outside the top ten, he managed to rally back to second place, showcasing his driving prowess. In stark contrast, teammate Francesco Bagnaia faced challenges, placing fifteenth and advancing through Q1.
Strong Performances from Other Competitors
Fabio Di Giannantonio of Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team made a notable impact. He held the lead for much of practice before finishing third, proving his consistency across multiple laps.
- Pedro Acosta from Red Bull KTM Factory Racing finished fourth, closing in at just 0.659 seconds behind Bezzecchi.
- Brad Binder also contributed to KTM’s success, finishing eighth and advancing directly into Q2.
- Alex Marquez from BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP secured sixth, with Joan Mir from Honda HRC finishing just behind him in seventh.
- Johann Zarco, representing Castrol Honda LCR, completed the top ten.
Incident-Prone Session
The session was not without its incidents. Ai Ogura from Trackhouse MotoGP Team crashed at Turn 7. Despite this, he managed to finish ninth and secure a position in Q2. Teammate Raul Fernandez struggled, finishing fourteenth and missing Q2.
