Watertown Launches Advanced Emergency Alert System

The city of Watertown is rolling out an advanced emergency alert system designed to keep residents informed during critical situations. Named CodeRED, this service allows the Watertown 911 Center to disseminate urgent messages via phone, text, or email to residents in both Watertown and Codington County.
Key Features of the CodeRED System
CodeRED is built to deliver location-based emergency alerts. This means notifications you receive will pertain specifically to your area, ensuring relevant information during emergencies like tornado warnings, gas leaks, or public safety threats.
Additional Notifications
While emergency situations are the primary focus, CodeRED also provides other time-sensitive updates. These may include:
- Snow removal information
- City service announcements
- Utilities notifications
- Geo-targeted severe weather alerts
- Other urgent local information
How to Sign Up for Alerts
Residents can easily enroll in the service by choosing the type of alerts they wish to receive. Sign-up is available online or through a simple text message. To register, text “Watertown” to 36475 to begin receiving important notifications.
This advanced emergency alert system aims to enhance public safety and keep Watertown residents well-informed about emergencies and significant community events.
