Canada Hosts Puerto Rico, Jamaica in FIBA 2027 Qualifiers at TD Coliseum

Canada Basketball, in collaboration with TD Coliseum and Oak View Group, has officially announced the hosting of two significant matches in the upcoming FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 Americas Qualifiers. These games will feature Canada’s Senior Men’s National Team (SMNT) taking on Puerto Rico and Jamaica this July in Hamilton.

The match schedule is as follows:

  • Date: Friday, July 3, 2026
  • Time: 7 PM EST
  • Opponent: Jamaica
  • Date: Monday, July 6, 2026
  • Time: 7 PM EST

Both games will be hosted at the newly opened TD Coliseum, with live broadcasts available on TSN.

Ticket Information

Tickets for the games will start at $25, with a presale beginning on February 25 at 10 AM ET for Canada Basketball Insiders and TD Coliseum newsletter subscribers. General ticket sales will open on February 27 at 10 AM ET. Fans can purchase tickets through Ticketmaster or the TD Coliseum website.

Team Performance

Currently, Canada’s Senior Men’s National Team is performing well in the qualifiers. They have secured two victories over the Bahamas in November and December, placing them at the top of Group C standings alongside Jamaica. The team is undefeated, holding four points in the rankings.

Upcoming Matches

Before the games in Hamilton, Canada will face Puerto Rico on February 26 and Jamaica on March 1 as part of Window Two qualifiers.

Qualification for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027

The FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 Americas Qualifiers include 16 teams split into four groups. The top three teams from each group, totaling 12, will qualify for the World Cup in Qatar.
