Origins of Hotel Rosita
In the early 1940s, Puerto Vallarta was a peaceful fishing village. Salvador González, acting on behalf of his father-in-law, Alberto Torres, acquired a piece of land near the river Coamecates, with initial intentions to store livestock.
Upon arrival at the site, Torres was dissatisfied with the location’s suitability for cattle. Despite this, González remained committed to the purchase. This decision would inadvertently pave the way for the future establishment of Hotel Rosita.
The Evolution of a Landmark
After acquiring the land, Salvador noticed a demand for short-term lodging in the area. He initially built eight rooms to rent out, which soon became popular with traveling salesmen.
Recognizing the potential for higher income from daily rentals, he pivoted his focus and eventually named the hotel after his daughter, Rosa María, affectionately called “Rosita.” By the 1950s, the hotel expanded to 72 rooms, accommodating the influx of tourists visiting Puerto Vallarta.
Continued Growth
González understood the increasing need for lodging and took out a loan to construct a new tower. This addition brought the total to 112 rooms. The original eight rooms transformed over time into commercial spaces, highlighting the hotel’s adaptability.
