Apple TV Reschedules Premiere of Thriller ‘The Hunt’ Following Investigation

Apple TV has rescheduled the premiere of the thriller series “The Hunt” (Traqués) to March 4, 2025. This series is a French-language drama produced by Gaumont and has attracted attention due to an investigation into potential copyright issues.

Background of the Delay

Originally, “The Hunt” was set to premiere on December 3, 2024. However, following the discovery of significant similarities between the show and Douglas Fairbairn’s 1973 novel “Shoot,” the release was postponed. This decision was made two weeks prior to the scheduled debut after Gaumont was informed of the concerns.

  • Original Premiere Date: December 3, 2024
  • New Premiere Date: March 4, 2025
  • Writer: Douglas Fairbairn
  • Related Work: Originally adapted into a film in 1976

Investigation Findings

In a statement, Gaumont outlined its commitment to respecting intellectual property rights. After identifying the similarities, the production company quickly sought to clarify the rights holders and secure necessary authorizations. This process included acknowledging the director Cédric Anger, who was initially credited as the original creator.

Plot Overview

“The Hunt” follows a group of friends led by Franck, portrayed by Benoît Magimel. During a weekend hunting trip, they encounter another group of hunters who unexpectedly begin targeting them.
