Javier Mascherano stated, “Messi is fine; he’s been training at the same level as the rest of the team.” This follows concerns about his availability after he suffered a muscle strain in his left hamstring during a preseason match against Barcelona SC on February 7. Although Messi began that friendly, he exited in the 58th minute.
Adjustments to Preseason Schedule
Due to this injury, Inter Miami rescheduled their final preseason friendly against Independiente del Valle to February 26, changing it from the original date of February 13. Since then, Messi has returned to full training with the squad and is considered ready for the opener.
