Director Addresses Mammootty’s Re-dubbing Rumors for ‘Chatha Pacha’

Advaith Nayar, a debut filmmaker, has released ‘Chatha Pacha’ on OTT platforms following its successful theatrical run. The film has been praised for its production quality and compelling performances. However, it has also sparked discussions regarding Mammootty’s cameo. While many viewers enjoyed the film, some critiques note that Mammootty’s participation felt out of sync with the film’s overall tone. Notably, his dialogue delivery was pointed out as not reflecting the expected presence of a superstar.
Director Addresses Re-Dubbing Rumors
After the OTT launch on Thursday, speculation arose that Mammootty re-dubbed his scenes to enhance the narrative impact. In a conversation with El-Balad, Advaith Nayar confirmed that Mammootty’s segments were indeed re-dubbed. Importantly, Nayar emphasized that this decision was not made in response to criticism. He clarified, “Yes, we have redubbed Mammookka’s portion. However, this was not done because of the criticisms we faced. Rather, this was already part of the plan.”

At the film’s success celebration, Mammootty shared his creative choices for the role. He intentionally adopted an older Kochi dialect, which may be unfamiliar to the younger audience today.
