The 24-year-old athlete missed advancing to the quarter-finals after finishing fourth in the 1/8 stage. While he had a promising start, clocking the 10th fastest time in seeding runs earlier that day, his race took a downturn due to unforeseen circumstances.
Emotional Setback for Nightingale
Nightingale faced a challenging race against tough competition, including reigning Olympic champion Alessandro Haemmerle from Austria. Despite putting up a strong effort and moving into third place, an unexpected bump led to his early exit from the competition.
Racing Conditions in Livigno
The race conditions dramatically changed just minutes before Nightingale’s run with reduced visibility and increased wind. This sudden shift created difficulties for all athletes, but it was Nightingale who suffered the most. He remarked on the conditions saying, “I was pretty set on it being bad weather… it’s just I couldn’t see and there was a bump there.”
Looking Forward to the Mixed Team Event
Despite the disappointment, Nightingale remains optimistic about his upcoming events. He is set to compete in the mixed team snowboarding event, where he and teammate Charlotte Bankes are the reigning World Champions, having won gold in 2023.
