Johan-Olav Botn Wins Olympic Gold in 20 km Individual Debut

Norwegian athlete Johan-Olav Botn made a remarkable debut at the Milan/Cortina Olympic Winter Games. He secured the Gold medal in the Men’s 20 km Individual biathlon event, finishing with a time of 51:35.5.

Botn showcased exceptional skill and determination. He began the race strong, consistently remaining in contention for the lead. The turning point came during the second prone shooting stage. While Botn shot clean, his main competitor, Eric Perrot from France, incurred a penalty.

Eric Perrot, the Silver medalist, previously claimed Gold in the Mixed Relay event earlier during these Games. Sturla Holm Laegreid earned the Bronze medal, marking his first Olympic achievement. He had previously won Gold with the Norwegian Men’s Relay team in 2022.
