ARC Raiders Unveils Shared Watch Event to Boost Cooperation, Says Embark Studios

Embark Studios is introducing a new initiative to encourage collaboration among players in its emerging title, ARC Raiders. The developer aims to address the growing tension within the community by rewarding teamwork rather than competition.

Shared Watch Event Overview

The Shared Watch Event runs from February 10 to February 24. This event is designed to celebrate players who join forces against the ARC machines, rather than battling each other. By participating, players can earn various rewards for cooperative gameplay.

Event Rewards and Features

Participants will unlock items, accumulate Raider Tokens, and progress towards a new cosmetic set known as The Slugger. To achieve these rewards, players must earn Merits, which are accumulated through experience points gained from engaging with and defeating ARC enemies.

  • Event Duration: February 10 – February 24
  • Key Rewards:
    • Raider Tokens
    • The Slugger cosmetic set
  • Merits earned through:
    • Damaging ARC enemies
    • Destroying ARC units

Encouraging Cooperation in Gameplay

Instead of enforcing strict matchmaking based on player behavior, Embark Studios hopes that this loot-driven approach will foster a sense of cooperation. Their goal is to steer players back to fighting the ARC threat side-by-side, rather than against each other.

This strategy aims to re-engage players who may have become frustrated with player-versus-player dynamics, while also attracting new participants to the game. As the event approaches its launch, the community awaits further details about its systems, which will be revealed in the upcoming patch notes.

ARC Raiders is available on multiple platforms, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Additionally, the game supports cross-play, enabling players to join friends across different devices.
