Utrecht Council Seeks €121,198 Compensation from FC Porto for Bus Damage

Utrecht’s city council is seeking compensation from FC Porto for damages incurred during a Europa League visit. The claim totals €121,198 for repairs related to eight buses used by traveling supporters.

Mayor Sharon Dijksma has formally notified FC Porto of the demand through a registered letter. In her communication, she emphasized the need for the club to take responsibility and assist in identifying those accountable for the destruction.
Extent of the Damage
The incident took place on 6 November and resulted in significant damage. The affected buses experienced:
- Broken windows
- Ruined seats
- Destruction of air conditioning ducts
- Damage to roof openings
According to Dijksma, the drivers involved felt threatened during the incident, describing the experience as traumatic. She condemned the behavior of those involved as unacceptable.
Incident Overview
On the night of the incident, 73 individuals traveling on one bus were detained. However, the identities of passengers on the other seven buses were not disclosed.
