Actress Beverley Callard, known for her role as Liz McDonald in “Coronation Street,” has announced her diagnosis of breast cancer. The 68-year-old made this revelation during an appearance on RTE’s Late Late Show on February 6. Despite the serious nature of her diagnosis, she indicated that the cancer is in its “very early stages.”

Callard shared details about her diagnosis while preparing to film scenes for the Irish soap “Fair City.” She received the news from her doctor shortly before she was set to go on set. “I had some tests just before I left the UK,” Callard explained. “Just 15 or 20 minutes before I got to my dressing room, my consultant called to say, ‘you’ve got to come back to the UK.'”
Despite her recent diagnosis, Callard remains optimistic. She confirmed that she will undergo further testing to examine her lymph nodes and glands before proceeding with surgery and radiotherapy. “I’m coming back to Fair City, so I will be back in just a few weeks,” she added.
