Greenland 2 Release, New Imprint Boxes, Abbott and Costello in 4K & More!

Several exciting new Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD releases have been announced, promising to delight movie enthusiasts. These releases include notable titles and collections scheduled for March and April 2024.

Upcoming Releases in 4K Ultra HD

Lionsgate has confirmed the release dates for two of its major titles. Both Ric Roman Waugh’s Greenland and its sequel, Greenland 2: Migration, will be available on 4K Ultra HD starting March 31, 2024. This marks the first release of Greenland in the U.S. in 4K. The sequel will also be released on Blu-ray.

Imprint Films Limited Edition Collections

Imprint Films is set to launch three Limited Edition Blu-ray box sets in April:

    • Naked Alibi (1954)
    • Ring of Fear (1954)
    • Hell’s Island (1955)
    • Flame of the Islands (1956)
  • Tales of Adventure Collection 10
    • The Magic Carpet (1951)
    • Sudan (1945)
    • Salome (1953)
    • The Sword of Ali Baba (1965)
    • 1001 Arabian Nights (1959 – bonus film)
  • Tales of the Wild West Collection 2
    • 5 Card Stud (1968)
    • Will Penny (1968)
    • Something Big (1971)
    • The Revengers (1972)
    • Posse (1975)

These box sets will be released on April 29, 2024, each limited to 1,500 copies.

Additional Classic Releases

Kino Lorber Studio Classics plans to release the Abbott and Costello film Hold That Ghost on 4K Ultra HD on March 28, 2024. Additionally, Paul Harrison’s The House of Seven Corpses from 1973 will also be available in 4K UHD on April 21. This release is in collaboration with Dark Force Entertainment.

Noteworthy Blu-ray Releases

20th Century Studios and Fox Searchlight will release Is This Thing On?, starring Bradley Cooper, on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD on March 17, 2024. Meanwhile, Fox Searchlight is celebrating the 20th anniversary of Little Miss Sunshine but currently has no plans for a 4K disc release.

Special Releases and Music Content

Blue Underground has teased its upcoming 4K Ultra HD restoration of Ralph Bakshi’s Fire and Ice from 1983, with release details expected soon. Additionally, Amazon will release Fallout: Season Two (2025-26) in various formats, including a wide release of 4K Ultra HD.

Music lovers can look forward to the upcoming Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD release of Baz Luhrmann’s Epic: Elvis Presley in Concert in 2025. Rhino also plans an expanded release for Van Halen’s 5150 album on March 27, 2024, although the accompanying Blu-ray will feature an upsampled HD version of the concert film Live Without a Net.

As Super Bowl weekend approaches, cinephiles are eager for upcoming movie trailers, including new spots for Avengers: Doomsday and The Mandalorian.
