Popular UK-America Flight Route Resumes After 7-Year Hiatus

United Airlines is set to resume its nonstop flight route between Glasgow and New York/Newark after a seven-year hiatus. This service will officially start on May 9, 2026, and will continue until October 24, 2026, extending operations by an entire month compared to previous plans.
Significance of the Route Resuming
This revival marks the American airline’s return to Glasgow, as it last operated this route in October 2019. Upon its launch, United Airlines will be the only U.S. carrier offering direct flights from Scotland’s largest city to the United States.

Passengers in Premium Plus enjoy extra legroom, additional recline, amenity kits, and Saks Fifth Avenue bedding. Meanwhile, Economy Plus provides extra room at the cabin front for quicker disembarkation.

She noted strong interest and emphasized that this expansion highlights Scotland’s importance in United’s global network. It will provide travelers from Scotland with easier access to New York City and over 140 onward destinations across the Americas.
Chris Tibbett, Airline Director at AGS Airports, echoed this enthusiasm. He indicated that the increased frequency before even launching shows a strong demand for connectivity between Scotland and the U.S.
