Tesla Opens New Charging Station at Skeena Mall

Tesla is set to enhance electric vehicle infrastructure in Terrace, British Columbia, by opening a new charging station at the Skeena Mall. This installation is scheduled to be operational by April 1, 2026.
Tesla Charging Station Features
The charging station will feature eight stalls and will be available for all electric vehicle brands. This inclusivity is a notable aspect of the installation, which is being developed by Loon Properties, a division of Vancouver’s Bosa Properties.
Benefits of the Supercharger Installation
Constructed since late last year, the under-wrap stalls will soon offer a value-added convenience for both shoppers and electric vehicle owners in the area. According to a statement from Loon Properties, this installation significantly enhances the utility of Skeena Mall.
- Supercharger can add up to 322 kilometers of range in just 15 minutes.
- Short charging stops are typically under 80% capacity, making them convenient for drivers.
Current EV Charging Landscape
Currently, there is one Tesla charging station in Terrace, located behind Ninja Sushi, and another in Kitimat. However, both of these stations charge at a slower rate compared to the forthcoming supercharger at Skeena Mall. The closest existing supercharger in northern British Columbia is located in Prince George, with another in Quesnel.
Regional EV Charging Infrastructure
The new Tesla charging station at Skeena Mall will contribute to the growing network of fast chargers along British Columbia’s highways. According to BC Hydro, there are 114 operational fast-charging locations out of a total of 155 across the province.
- BC Hydro location near the Hwy 16/Hwy 37 roundabout provides additional charging options.
This new charging station marks a significant step forward in supporting electric vehicle usage in the region, reflecting a broader commitment to sustainable transportation solutions in British Columbia.
