Hydro One Plans Upgrades to Address Delhi Power Reliability Issues

Hydro One is taking significant steps to improve power reliability in the Delhi area. Recent efforts follow ongoing complaints regarding frequent power outages in Norfolk County.

Corridor Upgrades and Maintenance Initiatives

Norfolk County Councillor Mike Columbus provided an update on these initiatives, which are part of Hydro One’s commitment to enhance electrical system reliability. Crews have already completed a comprehensive site inspection.

  • Forestry maintenance is underway.
  • Equipment repairs are currently in progress.
  • Tree trimming and vegetation management will be finalized by the end of next week.

Immediate and Long-Term Solutions

These maintenance measures aim to address pressing reliability issues. Many residents have faced multiple power outages, with some lasting over 24 hours during extreme cold spells.

In addition to immediate repairs, Hydro One is advancing a future feeder project to bolster the local electrical infrastructure. Originally slated for completion in 2029, this project has been expedited and is now expected to finish in 2028.

Community Feedback and Official Communication

This update comes amid public frustration expressed on platforms like social media. Councillor Columbus emphasized that he has maintained ongoing communication with Hydro One officials to relay community concerns.

While recognizing that power services are under provincial jurisdiction, Columbus stated that Hydro One is actively reviewing and adapting its infrastructure plans based on feedback from the community.

These efforts illustrate Hydro One’s commitment to improving electrical service reliability in the Delhi area. Continued updates are expected as maintenance work progresses.
